Police Work and Organisation: This area of research includes, among other things, police education, the profession, human resources, management and research into organisational structures. Themes often deal with police capabilities and know-how, as well as the development of the police organisation.

Policing: This area of research covers operational activities which the police carry out independently or in cooperation with other players. The themes are often related to criminal investigation, surveillance and emergency operations, licensing services and the effectiveness of these activities overall. Areas of interest also include police operation support systems, strategies and tactics.

Police in Society: This area of research examines the police force as a social player. The research often examines the relationship between the police and other institutions in society, the relationship between the police and citizens, changes in the operational environment for the police, crime and internal security challenges in general.
