A lottery refers to an activity where one or more people are promised specified goods or similar on the basis of drawing lots or other form of chance in return for a payment or other direct or indirect settlement. Lotteries may only be held with a permit issued by the authorities (lottery permit), unless otherwise stipulated in the Lotteries Act (for example small or mini lotteries). Lottery permits are granted by: the local police department, when the lottery is held in one police district or part of a district (e.g. within a single community), or the National Police Board when the lottery is held over a wider area than that covered by a single police department (National Police Board, Arpajaishallinto, PL 50, 11101 Riihimäki). Applications for lottery permits are to be made in writing. Permits can be granted for a maximum of six months. Tavara-arpajaislupahakemus Tavara-arpajaistilitys, (within 5 months of the expiry of the permit) Lottery permits can be issued to a registered association, independent foundation or other such body which works for the public good and which is situated in Finland. Permits may be granted to the above mentioned associations or foundations if the funds raised by the lottery are to be used to promote the public good. The application for a lottery permit must include: A completed lottery permit application Report on activities or other account showing that the association or foundation operates in accordance with its aims extract from the minutes of the association or foundation regarding the organisation of a lottery copy of the association’s or foundation’s last approved set of accounts copy of the rules of the association or foundation extract from the register of associations, foundations or companies / extract from the register of public bodies (maximum of 3 months old from the date of the permit application) report on the legal person presented as executor Valtioneuvoston asetus arpajaisista (1345/2001) in accordance with section 30, the holder of a lottery permit has to present accounts to the issuing authority (either a police department or the National Police Board) within five months of the expiry of the permit. » Service prices 1.1.2013 Back \| Print page
